Healing Ceremonies
Healing is a process in which we can change or evolve to rid ourselves of wounds, experiences, or concepts. Sometimes we are so attached to a certain perception about who we are it can create disease and uneasiness in our body. Through our work with plants, medicines, and ceremonies, an incredible healing can happen. In the mental body it can experienced as a positive affirmation and belief that you are going through a healing process. Healing is also making a difference in our physical, electrical and elemental bodies. Spiritual healing is one where our relationship with the spiritual world is strengthened. It can become an invitation to listen to what the Spiritual world is calling for us to do in order to live a healthy and harmonious life.
A person being healed will go through incredible processes. A lot of healing happens in the integration. What happens after the ceremony or healing? We might have questions, or have revelations about the nature of our illness. The person being healed might need to come back in order to process and answer these questions. What's happening to me? Why am I feeling like this? What can I do with it? How can I transform it? How can I let it go? How can I hang on to the best that I can? All these things happen through the healing.
There are many different healing methods that the Maya have used and still use to today. These methods have been taught to us over the course of many years and initiations. We offer to perform these ancient ways of healing if you truly seek it with an open heart.
Mayan Healing Fires
The Mayan Healing Fires are powerful ways to bring healing for the community & for every participant. The traditional Mayan healing fire is made entirely of sacred fire offerings (rather than from wood) in the shape of a mandala. During the ceremony, an exchange is made between us, the natural & spiritual worlds through the prayers & offerings to the fire. Participants are encouraged to bring offerings such as medicine plants and incenses (sage, cedar, sweetgrass, tobacco, resins, etc.), flowers, candles, honey, cornmeal or other natural items you feel called to bring to offer to this special Fire Ceremony that honors Community. All offerings are an important part of this special ceremony we will create together.
It has been shared with us that the ceremony begins as soon as you make your commitment and begin your preparations. What is your prayer and intention? How do you want to gather your materials? What season is it, and what is already abundant upon the Earth? Do you need help from others? Where are you traveling to, and what are the conditions there? Who will you be receiving guidance and teachings from? How can you contribute to them? Who will you be entering sacred space with and how do you want to make relations? Has anyone made requests that you can help fulfill at the ceremony? How do you want to express yourself through your actions, offerings and way of being at the ceremony? Do you have special needs or considerations that you need to be responsible for or communicate to others? Where are you at in your Moon Cycle and how might that impact your participation? What is special and sacred about where you live, where you come from and the medicine you can easily gather and offer?
When we are conscious and spacious with our preparations there is room for the spirit to come in and guide us, teach us and reveal to us deeper meanings and insights than we may have access to with our unconscious doing. We always encourage ceremonial participants to practice living into the generosity, gentleness and forethought necessary to come together in a sacred way and show up safely, organized and prepared.
What needs to be gathered and prepared prior to each ceremony may differ. We have included information to help educate and guide participants so that they may come to ceremony respecting and honoring the sacred circle, medicine people and each other. In general it is wise to follow these general recommendations:
- Always come prepared to contribute.
- Check-in with the organizer to see what is needed in advance and make your commitment to attend by the date requested.
- Dress appropriately. Women need to wear skirts and sometimes may be requested to cover bare shoulders. Especially in ceremonies where we will be near fire, please wear natural fabrics, cotton or hemp, and avoid synthetics or clothing with extra-fabric that may interfere with your safety and overall experience.
- If possible, choose to purchase organic food donations and ceremonial offerings.
- Find out in advance if photos are allowed to be taken during the ceremony.
Long Distance Healing
Through the mayan oracle, contemplation, and meditation we can perform long distance healing. In today's modern world we have a phone or another way we can communicate over long distances. If the phones can communicate our voice, we can mentally and spiritually communicate as well. For a shaman and the healing, there is no limit on space or time. A strong healing intention doesn't know the difference in distance, whether close by or far away. The healing can travel to different places and even to different times for ancestral healing. The healed must have the faith, the belief that we are in the process, in order to be open and allow the spiritual force to heal.
